On 27 January 2009, the Air Force Intelligence Agency (AIA) was replaced by the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Agency (AF ISR Agency), with the latter elevated to a Field Operating Agency (FOA) under the Deputy Chief of Staff, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (AF/A2).
